About Your Speaker

Marcus Hall is the founder and driving force behind Marc Nelson Denim, a small-batch menswear brand based in Knoxville, Tennessee. His passion for design was ignited by the local legacy of denim manufacturing, influenced by his family’s history of employment at the Levi’s factory in East Knoxville. This connection inspired him to create his own denim line, focusing on quality and community ties.

Hall’s entrepreneurial journey has been marked by both significant achievements and challenges. His career faced a major setback when he was imprisoned due to legal issues related to an illegal gambling operation. However, after serving his time, he made a remarkable comeback, revitalizing Marc Nelson Denim with a renewed focus on direct sales and e-commerce, dropping his women’s line to better manage production and margins. His determination during this period is a testament to his resilience and dedication to his craft.

Today, Marcus splits his time between Knoxville and Lakeland, FL operating out of his store at 700 E Depot Ave in Knoxville, where all Marc Nelson Denim products are crafted onsite, and he has recently begun emerging in the entrepreneurial scene in downtown Lakeland, at 228 E. Pine Street.
